Walthourville Toddler's Death Ruled a Homicide
The 2-year-old was found in a canal near his home Jan. 14, three hours after being reported missing.
A Walthourville toddler who was found dead in a canal Jan. 14 was murdered, according to the Georgia Bureau of investigation. The Liberty County Sheriff's Office confirmed Thursday that the death of 2-year-old Jonathan Thomas Sturdy was being investigated as a homicide, according to a Coastal Courier report. Jonathan's parents reported him missing around 5 p.m. Jan. 14. His mother, Kayla Sturdy, told police that he had been missing for about 30 minutes before she called 911, according to the Coastal Courier. Jonathan's body was found in the canal after a three-hour search. According to the Courier, emergency medical personnel attempted to revive him at the scene.
