Soldier Killed in Monday Accident Identified

Spc. Christian Bush was killed Monday in a motorcycle accident.

The soldier killed early Monday in a motorcycle accident on post has been identified, according to a Fort Stewart press release. Spc. Christian Bush, 22, was killed just after midnight Monday in a three-vehicle accident on Highway 119 near the NCO Academy. Bush was an armor tank crewman with the 1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team, according to the release. He enlisted in 2011 and arrived at Fort Stewart in September. Though investigation into the accident is still ongoing, initial reports indicate that Bush's motorcycle was struck by a car that was passing two other vehicles, one a pickup truck. Stewart Soldier Killed in Cycle Accident

Incident marks second motorcycle-related soldier death in a week.

A soldier was killed early this morning in a motorcycle accident on post, according to a Fort Stewart press release. The accident occurred shortly after midnight on Highway 119 near the base's NCO Academy. The soldier, whose name has not yet been released pending notification of the next of kin, was assigned to the 1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team. Chaplain support and other assistance has been extended to the soldier's family, according to the release. The incident is the second motorcycle-related death of a soldier in under a week. On Wednesday, Sgt. Adam Huckstep, 23, died in a motorcycle accident in Long County. Huckstep was assigned to the 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team. Both accidents are under investigation.
