Need a Ride on New Year's Eve? There's an App for That

'Drive Sober Georgia' app helps users find a safe way home after a night on the town

Need a ride home after being overserved on New Year's Eve? The Governor's Office of Highway Safety has an app for that! The "Drive Sober Georgia" app is available for free on both the iPhone and Android smartphones, according to a WSAV report. The app compiles contact information on programs that offer free rides home, such as the AAA Tow to Go program. For more information, visit www.drivesobergeorgia.com.

Fort Stewart MWR Offers Free Taxi Service This Weekend

Soldiers who've had too much to drink to safely drive are encouraged to take advantage of the service.

Fort Stewart's Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department will be offering a free taxi service to soldiers from 10 p.m. tonight until 2 a.m. Monday, according to a 1-10 Artillery Facebook post. The service is offered to keep soldiers safe over the Labor Day weekend. Soldiers who feel they've had too much to drink, or just need a safe ride home, are encouraged to call 706-326-3027. When the cab arrives, show your military ID to the driver, and you'll be taken to your home or barracks. Labor Day weekend is traditionally marred by high traffic fatalities.
