A Savannah man was arrested Friday for allegedly shooting at a man hunting legally near his house, according to a Savannah Morning News report.
David Hobbs, 56, was charged with aggravated assault.
Savannah police responded to a call Friday morning from 23-year-old Logan Abbot, who told them that he had been legally hunting in a wooded area near Hobbs' Serenity Pointe home when he heard shots, according to the Morning News.
Abbot told police that he had shot and trailed a deer and was in the process of securing it when he heard the shots and dove to the ground. He claimed he had filed previous police reports about confrontations with Hobbs over hunting in the area.
Police officers heard more gunshots coming from Hobbs' home while they were questioning Abbot, according to the report. They called in additional officers, who used a public address system to order Hobbs out of the house.
Hobbs ignored several orders to leave the house, but finally walked out to the waiting officers and was arrested without incident, the Morning News reported. Police say they found a firearm and spent shell casings in Hobbs' house.
The incident is under investigation.
