Hinesville's unemployment rate dropped slightly in March, according to the Georgia Department of Labor. March unemployment for the Hinesville metro area was 8.6 percent, according to DOL statistics. That's down 0.2 percent from February's unemployment rate of 8.8 percent. It's also down from March 2012's rate of 8.8 percent. According to the DOL, the rate decreased because the number of unemployed people in the Hinesville Metro area dropped from 2,936 in February to 2,872 in March. The number of jobs also rose to 19,800, up 100 jobs from February. Most of the new jobs were in service-related industries, according to the DOL. The unemployment rate also dropped for the state of Georgia as a whole, from February's 8.6 percent to 8.4 percent …
