TSPLOST Town Hall Meetings Scheduled

Meetings in Hinesville and Midway will give citizens more information about proposed sales tax

On July 31, Georgians will have the opportunity to vote in a referendum on a one-cent sales tax. Revenue from the tax would be used to invest in transportation improvements within 12 defined regions.

Each region will hold its own vote independent of the other 11, according to www.t-splost.com, and each region's citizens will determine whether to enact the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, or TSPLOST, within that region.

The Liberty County Planning Commission is hosting two town hall meetings to give county residents a better understanding of TSPLOST. The first will be held July 11 at 6 p.m. at the Savannah Technical College Hinesville campus on Airport Road. The second will be held July 18 at 6 p.m. at the Dorchester Civic Center in Midway.
