Savannah Gunman Surrenders After 3-Hour Standoff

A Savannah SWAT team arrested the suspect, who had barricaded himself inside the historic Olde Pink House restaurant.

A gunman who barricaded himself inside Savannah's Olde Pink House restaurant today surrendered after a three-hour standoff with police, the Associated Press reports.

The gunman had entered the restaurant after jumping from a car being pursued by police, the AP reported. The suspect's name and the reason for the chase were not immediately available.

A second suspect was arrested near downtown Savannah after a chase that caused three public schools to be locked down briefly. Savannah-Chatham police told the AP that the incidents were related but would not say how.

The standoff caused police to shut down streets within three blocks of the Olde Pink House.
