Mega Pawn Expands Hours for Service Members

Hinesville's largest pawn and collectible shop is expanding its hours for service members.

Mega Pawn, 1008 W. Oglethorpe Highway, now stays open until 8 p.m. on Fridays following military paydays. The change came to allow soldiers more time to get to the shop after the duty day to redeem loans or do some shopping, according to manager Donnie Morrison. Mega Pawn's normal business hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

The shop features the biggest selection of firearms in Hinesville, along with car audio equipment and collectibles -- and expert help from gunsmith Greg Layne -- the only gunsmith in Hinesville -- and car installer Alex Stowbridge.

The shop also a large selection of tools, furniture, electronics, DVDs, video games, musical instruments, new and used jewelry, antiques and even military gear. Indeed, half the fun of visiting the shop is wondering around and seeing what out-of-the-way treasures you can discover.

Morrison added that Mega Pawn is reducing prices for the holidays.

An earlier version of this article referenced Mega Pawn's former firearms expert Chris Chauvenne. Mega Pawn's current gunsmith is Greg Layne. We regret the error.
