Coast Guard Searches for Fort Stewart Soldier Missing from Cruise Ship

Two cruise ship crew members saw soldier go overboard Tuesday morning.

 

The Coast Guard is searching for a Fort Stewart soldier reported overboard from a cruise ship off the coast of Florida, according to a WSAV report.

Sgt. Ronald Kemp, 31, was reported missing from the Carnival cruise ship Fascination Tueday immediately after two crew members witnessed him go overboard, according to WSAV.

Kemp is a field artilleryman with the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, according to Fort Stewart spokesman Kevin Larson. He has deployed twice and was assigned to Fort Stewart in 2010.

Coast Guard boat and air crews are seatching for Kemp. An Air Force plane and two helicopters also joined the search Tuesday night, WSAV reported.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Sgt. Kemp's family during this difficult time," Larson wrote in an email to Fort Stewart Patch. "Fort Stewart and the 3rd Infantry Division are providing support to his family."
