An excavation is taking place in the vaults along the Drayton Street Ramp near City Hall in Savannah, and Georgia Southern University archaeologists are inviting the public to help.

Archaeologists are looking for artifacts to determine what the Drayton Street vaults were used for. The public assisted in the excavation Saturday, and there will be another public help day Jan. 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
