Hinesville to Host Breast Cancer Awareness Exhibit
From a Hinesville Area Arts Council Press Release:
The Hinesville Area Arts Council will host: Walk a Mile in her Shoes, an inspirational exhibit of shoes to celebrate those who have walked the breast cancer battle and survived, with a Little Pink Dress reception. The exhibit opening ceremony will be on Thursday October 4th from 5:30-7:00pm at 102 commerce street, Hinesville Ga. The exhibit itself will be open throughout the month of October with Gallery hours of Monday-Thursday of 10am-2pm.
Leah Poole, curator and chairman of the HAAC, is designing the exhibit hoping to educate the community about breast cancer. “My passion for making sure women are educated about breast cancer and my love of shoes is what inspired this exhibit. My maternal aunt has had breast cancer twice and my paternal grandmother died from it before I was born,” she said.
The exhibit features women’s shoes coupled with messages aiming to increase breast cancer awareness and treatment. Liberty County Health Department and Komen Coastal Georgia, a local affiliate or Susan G. Komen for the Cure, have graciously provided the messages, as well as sponsoring the exhibit.
Women and men are encouraged to wear something pink to the reception this Thursday. It can be a favorite ball gown, cocktail dress or just something pink. “Shades of Pink” a professional dessert table designed by La Mesa Dulce will also be a part of the reception.
The Hinesville Area Arts Council is a 501(c) (3), nonprofit corporation registered in the state of Georgia. We actively support and develop arts of all forms for the local community. There is a different exhibit featured each month in the gallery of local arts.
